Elbridge Thomas Gerry DOI

Elbridge Thomas Gerry was born at Marblehead, Massachusetts, the third of twelve children, on 17 July, 1744 ad died 23November 1814, at age 70. He was an Episcopalian.  Gerry was a Harvard College Graduate and studied medicine. He was a Massachusetts delegate to the Continental Congress From 1776 to 1780 and from 1783 to 1785. He married in 1786 to Ann Thompson. He was a member of the US House of Representatives From 1789 to 1793. He was the 9th Governor of Massachusetts From 10 June 1810 to 4March 1812. He was the 5th Vice President and served with James Madison from 4 March 1813 to 23 November 1814.
