Thomas Heyward Jr. DOI


Thomas Heyward Jr. was born kin St. Luke’s Parish, south Carolina on 28 July 1746 and died on 6 March 1809 at age 62. He was an Episcopalian and was educated at home. Elected to the Continental Congress in 1775. He was a Judge and a prisoner of war during the siege of Charleston. He became a Judge in South Carolina and redired from the bench in 1798. He was married to Elizabeth Mathews and had five Children by her with only a son serviving to adulthood. Elizabeth died in 1782, He married aagain to Elizabeth Savage and had three children by her.
